Carol Services
December 13th/14th is a special weekend for Hadfield Methodist Church. On Sunday at 2.30pm, will be held our Annual 'Action for Children' Carol Service. This has been held at Hadfield Methodist Church since 1800's, and is believed to be the longest continuous service of this nature, in the country. While most churches had a break from traditions during the war years, the N.C.H. (as it was then known) Carol service continued to play an important part in the Christmas Celebrations at Hadfield. It is not known exactly when it started, but the occasion was certainly in place during the 1890's, and in those early years, the day was known as 'Fiddle
Sunday'.
This year, we celebrate once again, and on December 14th, Rev. Will Morrey, an ex-president of the Methodist Conference, who now works with 'Action for Children', is coming along to tell us something of the work. A warm welcome awaits everyone who is able to come along, and there will be refreshments served afterwards.
A much younger tradition takes place on Saturday, in the occasion of the 'Coffee and Carols' morning. Held from 10am - 12noon, in Hadfield Methodist Church, this is a more informal gathering, where Coffee, Carols and Fellowship are enjoyed together, and once again an open invitation is extended to all who can come along.
